Snow reschedules overnight closure of JBLM’s Madigan Gate

February 14, 2019 By Washington State DOT

LAKEWOOD – An overnight closure of the Madigan Army Medical Center gate on Joint Base Lewis McChord has been rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions.

Contractor crews replacing the Berkeley Street overpass in Lakewood have re-scheduled the overnight closure for the weekend of Feb. 22. It had originally been scheduled to occur this weekend.

Closure details – work will occur on one of the following nights:

  • Friday, Feb. 22, from 9:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23
  • Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24

The overnight closure will allow crews to shift lanes leading to and from the gate into a temporary configuration. This work is weather sensitive, and may be rescheduled for a later date.

During the overnight closures, first responders such as ambulance, fire and police will continue to have access through the gate. All other JBLM personnel or medical staff will need to use alternate routes.

Real-time traffic information is available on the WSDOT app. Advance information is available on the Pierce County Construction and Traffic Update web page.
