Submitted by Washington House Democrats.
Rep. Christine Kilduff, D-University Place, was elected by her colleagues to serve as the majority deputy floor leader on Thursday.

In this role, Kilduff will assist Majority Floor Leader Monica Stonier, D-Vancouver, in coordinating floor debate and passage of bills during the legislative session. Because of the Washington State House of Representatives emphasis on bipartisan cooperation and mutual respect, she will work with Republicans and Democrats to ensure fair and equitable debate on issues pressing to the state.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected for this position,” said Kilduff. “While many see politicians as divisive and uninterested in bipartisanship, I know we are all here because of our commitment to public service and the common good. I look forward to serving in this role where the values of mutual cooperation and congenial debate are the standard.”
Kilduff continued, “Politics should not be two sides battling it out in an attempt to score easy points. It is a discussion of ideas and values ending in compromise for the betterment of all Washingtonians. That’s how we do things in Pierce County and I am ready and excited to lead by example.”
In addition to her new leadership role, Kilduff serves on the Civil Rights & Judiciary, Education, Human Services & Early Learning, and Rules committees.
