The Friends of the Steilacoom Library and their partner, the Steilacoom Historical Museum Association, will have another Speaker Series this year. These talks on various subjects will all be at 2:00 on a Friday afternoon in the Education Room of the Museum at 1801 Rainier Street in Steilacoom. There is no charge.
Here is the schedule for the rest of 2016:
- September 9, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and World War II
- October 14, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein – Anatomy of a Masterpiece.
- November 11, Cartooning the Evergreen State (editorial cartoons.)
There will be no speaker in December. The dates for 2017 set so far are January 15, February 10 and March 10. Speakers are still being contacted.
The upcoming one for this Friday will be presented by Megan Churchwell, Curator at the Puget Sound Navy Museum. She will talk about the Navy Shipyard in Bremerton which operated around the clock to build, repair and overhaul more than 400 vessels.
