Each year the members of the Pierce County School Retirees Association (PCSRA) have the opportunity to award a $1,000 scholarship to a student who has completed their first two years of college successfully and plans to continue their education to earn a Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on becoming an educator.
This year’s PCSRA Scholarship recipient, Julia Rodriguez Paquette, earned her AA at Pierce College through the Running Start Program while meeting her high school requirements. She has enrolled at Seattle Pacific University and plans to complete a Masters Degree in Education. Julia hopes to work in elementary education as a teacher, counselor, and principal.
Julia was Co-Captain of the Steilacoom High School Girls Swim and Dive Team her senior year. She has been a State Championship qualifier the past three years and is a member of the school-record-holding 400 yard Freestyle Relay Team. Julia is also a member of the National Honor Society. Julia has studied in the Early Childhood Education Program at Pierce College and has worked with children in church and school activities. A focused student and leader, the members of the PCSRA are proud to award Julia a $1000 scholarship to continue her studies this fall.Print This Post
