TACOMA – Following successful completion of weekend-long work on southbound Interstate 5, crews continue ongoing efforts to expand HOV lanes in Tacoma. The weekend work allowed crews to remove and replace about 1,200 feet of the 1960s-era surface of I-5.
Over the weekend, workers also reopened the northbound I-5 collector-distributor access to 26th Street and the Tacoma Dome area. The access had been temporarily detoured as part of an environmental cleanup effort.
Meantime, crews will require continued night lane and ramp closures beginning Monday, Aug. 29.
