TACOMA – Contractor crews have begun an effort to repave portions of State Route 509 in Tacoma. The preservation project will repair worn and damaged stretches of highway between East D Street and Alexander Avenue East.
Paving is expected to begin mid-August. The project is scheduled to be complete before October, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect the speed limit to be reduced to 35 mph within the construction zones, and single-lane closures during night hours.
Crews initially will upgrade curb ramps and sidewalks.
Advance information about this project is available from the Olympic Region Weekly Construction and Traffic Updates web page.
