Steilacoom Featured on the Mobile Town Guide: The Town of Steilacoom is being featured on the Mobile Town Guide on Friday, July 22nd and may be accessed utilizing the following electronic address.
The Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday from 3 PM to 7 PM in downtown Steilacoom. Come visit over 50 vendors including farmers, crafters, prepared foods, etc.

The Steilacoom Farmers’ Market’s 50+ diverse, local producers of fresh vegetables and fruit, quality prepared foods, and artisan products invite you to celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week with us in the historic downtown district at Lafayette & Wilkes Street on Wednesday, August 10th from 3:00 to 7:00pm. Games, prizes, cooking demonstrations with surprise guest chefs, and the opportunity to meet the people who make our market a FARMERS’ Market!

Summer Concert Series:
The 2016 Summer Concert series is underway and will continue every Wednesday through the end of August. Concerts are held in Pioneer Park starting at 6:30 PM. The complete concert schedule is available on the Town’s official website. Darren Motamedy (smooth jazz) is the featured artist for Wednesday, July 27th.
With the warm weather upon us, many people are enjoying our parks. While enjoying the parks, please remember to secure your vehicles and not leave any valuable objects in plain sight. Also, use of alcohol and marijuana is not allowed in any of our parks at any times by anyone.
The Steilacoom Historical Museum Association’s annual Salmon Bake is scheduled for July 31 from noon to 4 PM at Sunnyside Park.
Public Safety recently responded to reports of suspicious individuals in various areas in Town. Please remember to secure your residences/buildings at all times.
Revised Building Hours:
Effective August 1, 2016, the Steilacoom Department of Public Safety offices will have the following business hours:
Tuesday: 9AM – Noon, 1 PM – 5PM
Wednesday: 9AM – Noon, 1 PM – 5PM
Thursday: 9AM – Noon, 1 PM – 5PM
Friday: 9AM – Noon, 1 PM – 5PM

Streets and Storm:
The crew spent the week crack sealing and is scheduled to continue this operation, weather permitting, into next week. They also attended safety training.
The crew also removed graffiti along sidewalks. If you see or are aware of someone vandalizing Town property including graffiti, please contact Public Safety. If you see graffiti on Town property, please contact Public Works.
Sentinel Way Project:
The contractor completed boring under the parking lot for the electrical cable and completed roadway excavation and installation of base material in preparation for paving which is scheduled for next week, weather permitting.
Lexington Street Project:
The Lexington Street project was awarded by Council on Tuesday the 19th. The preconstruction meeting was held on Wednesday the 20th. The Notice to Proceed was issued on Thursday the 21st and the contractor began mobilizing, performing survey work, and potholing utilities on Thursday. The contractor is scheduled to focus on the storm water system next week.
Roe Street Project:
The Roe Street grind and overlay project bid opening was Friday. The bids packets have been forwarded to the Town’s engineer for review and recommendation. We hope to bring a proposed award to Council at their August 2nd meeting.
The crew continued terminating cables on various projects throughout Town, attended the preconstruction meeting for Lexington Street, worked with and inspected work performed by the contractor on the Sentinel Way project, met with a homeowner concerning proposed vegetation removal on his property, completed locates and other work orders, and attended safety training.
The crew continued jetting sewers and cleaning around manholes. Additionally, they attended safety training.
Parks, Buildings and Grounds:
Staff repaired the outside and the kitchen faucets at the Community Center, prepared for and recovered from the Farmers’ Market and summer concerts, mowed parks and grounds and attended safety training.
Gifts and Donations:
The Town received a donation to be used for purchasing a “Little Free Library” to be installed at Perkins Park.
Steilacoom Annual Town-wide Garage Sale:
Saturday, August 13, 2016 9 AM – 4 PM
The annual Steilacoom Town-wide garage sale, sponsored by the Steilacoom Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Saturday, August 13th, rain or shine.
Dig out those treasures hidden away in your attics, closets, garages and other dark spaces and bring them to Steilacoom!
Rent a space on the Town tennis courts or sip sun tea in your yard and let the people come to you! This popular event will be advertised via local media (Steilacoom, Lakewood, DuPont & beyond), so there will be many opportunities for buyers to find “just the thing you are looking for!” Street maps will be available showing the addresses of those participating at their residences.
This is a fundraising event to support scholarships for local students. The Chamber greatly appreciates your participation and donations.
A Goodwill truck will be parked on Wilkes Street from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM to collect any unsold items that you would like to donate.
Application fees are as follows: 15’ X 15’ space on the tennis court: $25.00; registration and inclusion of your address on the street map: $10.00.
Registration forms are available on the Chamber of Commerce website at www.steilacoomchamber.com or at Espresso By The Bay, 1203 Rainier Street, Steilacoom, WA 98388. Completed forms, along with your check made payable to Steilacoom Chamber of Commerce, should be returned in person or by mail to Espresso By The Bay at the above address. Forms must be received not later than August 10th if you want your address on the street map, and by August 12th if you would like a space on the tennis court.
