LAKEWOOD – The opening of a new lane on the southbound Interstate 5 exit to Berkeley Street and a new lane across the newly-widened Berkeley overpass has been delayed. The new lanes were scheduled to open to traffic following signal work planned for Thursday, June 30. Crews have since discovered that more work must occur on the signals before they can accommodate traffic. For safety reasons, the new lanes will remain closed until the new signal system is fully operational.
A new opening date will be announced as it is scheduled. Until then, traffic will be able to use the interchange as normal. Semis will continue to be prohibited from turning left from southbound I-5 to Berkeley Street until the new lanes open.
The work is related to the City of Lakewood’s I-5 –Madigan Access Improvements project.Print This Post
