Summer is here and the Curran Apple Orchard Park in University Place will celebrate by offering FREE concerts in the park. Held Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on July 7 & 21 and August 4 & 18. In case of inclement weather the venue will move to the Curtis HS cafeteria. A food vendor will offer drinks and hotdogs. This is fun for all ages and the whole family to enjoy an evening in the park. Here’s a run down of the bands that will play.
July 7 – 204th Army Band
The I Corps Army Band, which is affectionately referred to as “America’s Corps Band”, is assigned to I Corps, stationed in Vancouver, WA. The band provides musical support for the Army, as well as the surrounding communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Performing over 600 missions annually they truly are the “Heartbeat of America’s Corps.”
July 21 – Danny Vernon “Elvis”
Danny enjoys performing all 3 decades of Elvis’ career, including the “recklessly abandoned” hillbilly cat 50’s, the sleek 60’s movie years including the Comeback Special, and the sexy 70’s jumpsuit years.
In his own words, “From the many years of admiration of Elvis, I’ve sought to create a show that would hold the excitement of the King on stage throughout various stages in his career. I also try to show respect and support the integrity of the man and his music.”
With the voice, look, and passion of the twentieth century icon, Danny Vernon strives to re-capture Elvis Presley’s appeal to an ever-growing audience.
August 4 – Hook Me Up Band
These talented, professionally trained musicians will wow you with a variety of vocal and instrumental musical entertainment. They have something for everyone whether you like dipping and dancing, dining and fine wining, or getting lost in a memory from a nostalgic melody, Hook Me Up will entertain.
August 18 – Calaca Kings
The Calaca Kings are based in Olympia, Washington. They have performed for thousands in concerts, festivals, and special events.
Excellent “family rated musical entertainment” enjoyed by audiences of all ages with a well blended variety of R&B, electric blues, rock, funk and Latin blues.
Concerts are free. Come and enjoy the fun.Print This Post
