Nathan Barnes and Barlow Palminteri have very different styles and approaches to visual art, yet their work is connected.
“Barlow Palminteri and I have been sharing our work for the better part of two years,” wrote Barnes in a statement about the show. “This creative exchange is most simply apparent in my painting Graft, a portrait of Barlow, and in Barlow’s painting Spartacus, where I am the subject. Over time we have developed a rapport and our work shares a number of affinities.”
“This exhibition is an opportunity for viewers as well as the artists to locate and assess the points of our connection, which I believe are methodological owing to strong mutual influence,” wrote Palminteri in a statement about the show. “Our engagement with objects of interest creates content, the feelings these works provoke. We hope you will see a relationship among the works though they differ in style and subject matter.”
