The twenty-five Catholic parishes of Pierce County have entered into a partnership with Habitat for Humanity to fund, build, and dedicate a house to Pope Francis in honor of his Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Construction of the house officially begins this Saturday, June 11 with a ‘Wall Raising’ ceremony at 1:00. Father Wichert, pastor for Visititation and Holy Rosary parishes, and Maureen Fife the CEO of Habitat for Humanity will preside over the beginning of this event.
Everyone is invited to participate in this ceremony by inscribing their prayers and well wishes on the house framing. The Pope Francis House is being built in Habitat’s new community, ‘The Woods’ at 104th Street E, Tacoma.
