The City of Lakewood enjoyed another successful Ray Evans Memorial Fishing Event this past Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Festivities began around 9 a.m. Although it was raining, the fish were still hungry. More than 100 kids participated in this year’s event, and fish were caught in every session, according to Recreation Coordinator Dennis Higashiyama.
In fact, organizers were able to raise the limit from two fish per child to four, as well as added extra sessions for members of the Wounded Warriors program. More than 50 members of the program were able to participate with members of their families, with each receiving a rod and reel that they could keep. Program members also could catch as many fish as they wanted.
“Every one of them expressed their appreciation for being invited to the event and are looking forward to being involved next year,” Higashiyama said.Print This Post
