Anderson Island Principal Susan Greer nominated Mrs. Shelley Crossen as Lakewood Rotary’s Educator of the Month. Her nomination read, “I have developed a great respect for Shelley during this year as her Principal. Her passion and love for students and learning inspires not only the students, but the community and our staff as well.”
The nomination continued, “Mrs. Crossen has been teaching over 25 years, the last three at Anderson Island Elementary. She is an exciting leader in her Grade 3-5 classroom. Throughout the day, you can observe students who are engaged and enthusiastic about the learning process.
They question, justify answers, and are challenged. She individualizes lessons to meet each child’s needs, sets high expectations, and is driven by what is best for kids. Mrs. Crossen is patient, reassuring, and kind. Her flexibility in working with students and staff has earned her an enviable reputation as an excellent teacher who truly cares about others. She does not work or serve for awards and accolades, but simply to inspire and impact those she comes in contact with each day.”
Mrs. Crossen was recognized at a luncheon held Friday, May 20, 2016 at Tacoma Golf and Country Club.
