On Tuesday, March 8, Whole Foods Market Chambers Bay will host the “Alaffia Ladies of Togo Tour,” to introduce University Place city officials and local shoppers to African delegates from Togo representing Alaffia, a Olympia-based maker of natural beauty products. Alaffia alleviates poverty and advance gender equality though the fair trade of indigenous resources and community empowerment initiatives.
The purpose of the tour is to raise awareness for the important projects and initiatives made possible in Togo through the sale of Alaffia’s skin and hair care products at Whole Foods Market. Alaffia’s Empowerment Projects focus on education, maternal health, FGM eradication, eyeglasses and reforestation.
There will be two presentations at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Come by to hear their stories, watch a demo of pounding shea and ask questions.
