A Brave Heart follows the inspiring journey of 60-pound, 26-year-old Lizzie Velasquez from bullying victim to anti-bullying activist. Born with a rare syndrome that prevents her from gaining weight, Lizzie was bullied as a child and cyber-bullied as a teenager for looking different. After she discovers a YouTube video labeling her “The World’s Ugliest Woman,” attracting hundreds of vicious comments, she decides to take action, becoming a motivational speaker and lobbyist for the first federal anti-bullying bill.
According to Los Angeles Times reviewer Kate Walsh, “With simple storytelling, the film allows its star, Velasquez, to shine, and with her endless reserves of positive energy, eloquent speaking and willingness to be vulnerable, it’s no wonder millions of people have already found her inspirational.”
