The Comcast Neighborhoods TV show recently visited Steilacoom and has posted a 10-minute video about the place and its people to YouTube. The video would be a great way to introduce your friends and neighbors to this remarkable small town.
The energy behind the show includes host Sabrina Register and videographer Ed Hauge, Comcast video manager based in Puyallup. “The rich history and the people that care about this town is amazing. Everywhere you look, you’ll see reminders of the past. The folks we interviewed cared deeply about their town, and were extremely eager to share their knowledge,” Hauge said.
Register is an award-winning veteran TV broadcaster. Register was a news anchor at KOMO and Northwest Cable News for more than a decade before becoming a freelance broadcaster. She currently reports and produces for various media outlets, including KCTS 9, the PBS based in Seattle.
“The amount of history contained in this one small town tucked away on the shores of Puget Sound is incredible.
Steilacoom is a true gem, and the people are delightful,” Register said.
Among the people and places featured in the video: Steilacoom Mayor Ron Lucas; The Bair Bistro, Farrell’s Marsh Wildlife Area, Topside Bar and Grill and the facilities of the Steilacoom Historical Museum Association including of course the Nathaniel Orr Home.
