If it’s October it has to be apple season in Washington.
If it’s apple season in Washington the Lions clubs of the South Puget Sound region have been busy selling and packing apples.
And 2015 saw another great year for one of Lions Clubs’ most successful fund raising programs. Lakewood First Lions Club was one of those clubs and on apple packing day club members were at the Thurston County Fairgrounds in force, packing the 155 boxes sold to Lakewood area buyers.
The program in Lakewood was responsible for 155 boxes of apples, raising $1,550 for Camp Leo, a camp for children with diabetes. The entire program is sponsored by Olympia Host Lions club and, with all the participating clubs, raised a total of $36,000 for the camp.
Lakewood First Lions Club meets noon at the Rams Restaurant in Lakewood the second and fourth Monday of each month, and is open to visitors and potential members.
