The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. Upcoming topics are as follows:
- October 15, 2015 “Multiple Sclerosis in the Pacific Northwest – A Personal Story” – Linda Moran, Attorney Emeritus, WA State Bar Association (Pamela – MC)

The October 1, 2015, program “Where Did All the Kodachrome Go?” featured Tod Wolf, Operations Manager of Robi’s Camera Center, next to Lakewood Towne Center. Tod portrayed the digital revolution with respect to photography and how it impacts us day by day. The tendency for electronic devices to have many mega-pixels compared to the older devices is misleading, since this increase does not always mean a proportionate increase in resolution. In numerous humorous anecdotes, Tod revealed how his practice as a photographer has changed. Some very unexpected developments occurred in the lenses that were made for the now obsolete cameras; many of the lenses have acquired high resale value because they can be fitted to the new digital cameras very easily. The machining that is necessary to make the adapters is now more generally available. Tod had the same message as our computer expert Tom Wie had last week: Backup, backup, always backup your photographic files. Thanks, Tod, for an entertaining and helpful presentation!
