Mark your calendars! Sunday, Oct. 4, from 10-4 p.m. is Apple Squeeze Time in Steilacoom. The traditional autumn event celebrates the harvest–with all things Apple available that day–squeezed, baked and more.
The ancient, but still producing, Apple tree on the Nathaniel Orr property on Main Street is a remnant from days gone by when Orr’s Orchard was one of the premiere gardens around.
The Squeeze originated back in the early 20th century as a way to turn produce from local gardens into cash for Steilacoom School–it’s said that proceeds were used to purchase AV equipment for the school.
