High school exchange students from all over the world are arriving daily to their volunteer host families’ homes here in Washington. Students are excited to be part of an “American family” (single or married, young or old, kids or not!) and can’t wait to start in our local schools.
A non-profit organization, CIEE is the world leader in international education and exchange. Students come with their own spending money and insurance, have good grades, speak English well, and many have been given scholarships for their merit.
“I want to improve my English skills and experience an American school”; “I want to have a sister in America who will be my best friend”; “I want to cook German [Turkish, Thai, Spanish] cuisine for my new family and teach them about my culture, too,” are just some of the comments we get when we first come into contact with our students. Many of them become so close to their host families, they feel that they truly have two families–on different sides of the globe.
CIEE is still looking for volunteer host families in Lakewood, WA. Schools are closing this week, and there are still students hoping to get picked this year. Contact email@example.com if you would like to take advantage of this life-changing opportunity in your home.
