Pierce College: Parking and traffic during U.S. Open

May 29, 2015 By Pierce College

ChambersBay2015USOpenLogoTraffic surrounding both Pierce College campuses could be significantly impacted during the U.S. Open, taking place June 15-21 at Chambers Bay golf course in University Place. To avoid any potential delays or congestion, students should make an effort to register for classes early and avoid coming to campus if possible.

At Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, the campus parking lots will be used as overflow parking throughout the tournament, and staff and faculty must park only in designated employee lots. Very little advance notice will be given if the lots need to be used for the tournament.

Pierce College and United States Golf Association personnel will jointly staff the entrances to the Fort Steilacoom campus and guide employees and spectators to the appropriate lots. Students and visitors will be provided with a special parking area, and Pierce Transit buses will stop near the driveway at Farwest Drive rather than driving all the way into campus to the Cascade building.

The Washington State Fairgrounds are providing official parking for the tournament

as well, bringing potential congestion to the Puyallup campus as well.

The heaviest traffic is anticipated to occur between 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. For more information about parking and traffic guidelines during the tournament, please visit bit.ly/1PTcBS1.
