More than 250 special education athletes will take part in Clover Park School District’s (CPSD) Track Stars Invitational Wednesday, May 27 at Harry Lang Stadium (6015 111th St SW in Lakewood) from 9 a.m. to 1.
“The event promotes healthy social activity and helps students develop the basic skills of running and throwing through track and field events,” said organizer and CPSD school psychologist Dr. Robert Kirschenbaum. “It is also about overcoming adversity and physical and mental challenges to be fully engaged in life’s opportunities to the greatest degree possible.”
The meet features running, wheelchair racing and softball throwing events. A number of community and military volunteers help students complete the events. The district has held the event since 2007.
