As of May 19, 294 University Place residents have been hired for some of the temporary security positions that will be required for the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay from June 15-21, 2015.
Andy Frain Services, a business partner that has served the U.S. Open Championship for many years, is hiring for hundreds of temporary jobs for the event this year at Chambers Bay. The company agreed to fast-track University Place citizens in their bid for the open positions after speaking with U.P. Mayor Pro Tem Javier Figueroa and Council Member Steve Worthington during last year’s open at Pinehurst.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet all background check requirements. They will work with local law enforcement and fire department personnel to perform basic security responsibilities such as:
- Controlling entrances and the movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
- Patrolling buildings and perimeters.
- Escorting material and personnel.
- Inspecting security and fire exposures.
- Special assignments.
