Just last year, over 100 neighbors, youth, families, and community members came together and spent a wonderful summer evening walking together.
This year, Safe Streets will host its second annual “WALK for Safe Neighborhoods” event on Friday, July 17th at Wapato Park. To date, Safe Streets has organized and trained a network of 120 community groups involving over 14,000 neighborhood leaders and 190,000 residents in high-risk neighborhoods. Bring along your family, friends and neighbors to start your own team and raise money to make the streets of Pierce County safer!
“The WALK is about bringing neighbors together to strengthen our community. By walking together we support Safe Streets vision for safe, clean, and healthy neighborhoods for everyone in Pierce County,” said Traci Kelly, Safe Streets Development Associate.
Come and enjoy free ice cream sponsored by Umpqua Bank, free refreshments, live music and much more! Dinner will also be available for purchase. The registration fee is $20 and this includes a commemorative WALK T-shirt. The WALK will begin at 6 p.m. and registration begins at 5 p.m. Wapato Park is located at 1501 S 72nd St, Tacoma.
