Drivers who use Interstate 5 through the Joint Base Lewis-McChord corridor could experience brief delays the morning of Sunday, April 12. The freeway will be reduced to two lanes in three separate locations allowing Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews to perform sign bridge inspections and vegetation management.
Drivers should expect alternating right and left lane closures on northbound I-5 between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. at milepost 117.5 in DuPont, milepost 120 near the JBLM Main Gate entrance, and at milepost 125 in Lakewood. Southbound I-5 will also have alternating right and left lane closures at milepost 125 in Lakewood during the same hours.
While traffic backups are anticipated to be minimal, WSDOT encourages drivers who need to travel during those hours to give themselves extra time to reach their destination.
Real-time traffic information is available on the Washington State Department of Transportation’s travel alerts web pages or by calling 5-1-1.
