The registration fees for our entire team of 13 are totally paid for! At $90 each that’s $1,170 all from individuals throughout the Tillicum community.
Thank-you plaques and pants for the players and perhaps some incidentals will approximate an additional $300 or so that’ll still need to be raised but that our team is now paid for to participate in the Lakewood Baseball Club PONY (Protect Our Nation’s Youth) league is outstanding!
And all from people in the Tillicum neighborhood that care about kids playing ball! As far as I know we are the only team in the league that all come from the same neighborhood and from the same school.
Last year the Mayor of Tacoma, Marilyn Strickland, sent a letter to the Tillicum Crushers. Here’s what she wrote:
“I want to congratulate the Tillicum community and the Tillicum Crushers baseball team. As Mayor, I was very impressed how effortlessly the community came together in support of the team. The community coming together has enriched the lives of these young boys and is immeasurable. Again, congratulations to both the residents of Tillicum and Tillicum Crushers. Best wishes to your continued success. Keep up the good work!”
We’re back! The 2015 team will be famous! The players certainly think so. And evidently the community does too!
More to come as the Crushers continue to realize their field of dreams.
Here’s a fun video of the first ever Tillicum Crusher baseball player (who happens to be my grandson) crossing home plate.
John Adams says
It is soo sad that Kid’s baseball isn’t as important as a walking track around Gravely Lake.
