University Place, Wash. – On Thursday, March 12th, the US Coast Guard’s helicopter landed in Cirque Park, located at Cirque Drive W and Bridgeport Way W in University Place, at 11 a.m. as part of training exercise with West Pierce Fire & Rescue. It was an educational training for West Pierce Fire & Rescue firefighters to work on communications and operations, should the two agencies need to work together on a real incident.
After the training at Cirque Park was completed, West Pierce’s fire boat, the Endeavor, was launched and taken to Sunnyside Beach in Steilacoom. There the two agencies practiced lowering and raising the basket into the Coast Guard’s helicopter. No live patients were used in this exercise.
