The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. The next 2 Thursday programs are as follows:
March 19, 2015 “Closing the Information Gap on the US Open” – Danny Sink, Championship Director for 2015 US Open (Teresa – MC)
March 26, 2015 “Trees of Lakewood” – Kris – or “Surprise Speaker”
The March 5, 2015 program entitled “Lakewold Gardens – What is coming?” featured Stephanie Walsh, Executive Director. Stephanie is a born public speaker who always keeps the audience spellbound. She gave a preview of what the coming season will bring at Lakewold Gardens, one of the most beautiful locations in the South Sound area, located at 12317 Gravelly Lake Drive SW.
MayFest at Lakewold Gardens from May 1 through May 10 will celebrate the induction of the Gardens into the National Historic Registry with an historical display at Wagner House. Also to be celebrated during MayFest are The NW Stone Sculptors Association (NWSSA), Ikebana International #147, a Professional Photography Exhibit, Mother’s Day Weekend, Lakewold Volunteer Jewelry Sale May 9th-10th, Author Donald Olsen Book Signing May 9th, Professional Harpist Twyla Worthy May 9th from 2 pm-3:30 pm, Military Monday and 2 for 1 admission May 4th 10 am-4 pm, and Lakewood Arts Commission Exhibit May 5th-10th 10 am-4 pm. “Preserving the gardens as an inspirational experience” is the motto by which Stephanie contributes to our community. She showed some beautiful and inviting PowerPoint images of Lakewold Gardens in transition at this time of the year. Thank you, Stephanie, for a fun and informative presentation.
The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2014, are $20 per year. Lakewood United operates with a volunteer board and our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, John Huber, if he is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.
Burs Restaurant does not charge us a room fee. Hence, please ensure that you at least order a beverage if you attend the meeting and remember to leave a gratuity.
