Premier Media Group expands editorial staff, adds talent from across country

July 3, 2014 By The Suburban Times

TACOMA – Premier Media Group is hiring four editorial staffers to contribute to its three publications, including the award-winning South Sound and 425 magazines, as well as the new 425 Business magazine, which launches in October.

“We are so excited to expand our workforce, particularly when we’re doing so with such high-quality staffers,” Premier Media Group president Josh Dunn said. “We took the best of the best from across the country.”

New hires include:

Jake

Jake Bullinger

Writer Jake Bullinger worked with The News Tribune in Tacoma before joining 425 Business. He began his journalism career in Salt Lake City, where he was the founding editor of Wasatch Magazine and covered sports, the outdoors and environmental topics. His writing has appeared in Sports Illustrated, Men’s Health, Mountain magazine, The News Tribune and other publications. Hiking, camping and skiing take up a good deal of Jake’s free time, while the rest is spent reading or hunting for the next great brewery.

Rachel

Rachel Coward

Photographer Rachel Coward grew up in Tulsa, Okla., where she began working as a staff photographer for the teen section of the Tulsa World newspaper when she was 15. She attended the University of Missouri School of Journalism and graduated cum laude in 2012. Her work has been published in Mizzou Magazine, The Columbia Missourian, Vox Magazine, TulsaKids Magazine and National Geographic Traveler. She received the Oklahoma State Superintendent’s Award for Excellence in the Arts while in high school, and was named a Kodak Professional Photography Scholar in 2009.

Alex Schloer

Alex Schloer

Graphic designer Alex Schloer previously was a graphic designer for the University of Washington Tacoma. Schloer is a lifelong Washington resident with a passion for art, design and photography. His work encompasses layout design, photo treatment, illustration, and typography. When he’s not nose-down to the design grindstone, Alex can be found hiking in the wilderness or digging through flea markets and garage sales in search of funky antiques and collectables.

Mike Forbush

Mike Forbush

Graphic designer Mike Forbush was born and raised in Garden City, Mich., and recently relocated to Tacoma. He’s been a student of print and design since high school, and studied at Detroit’s College for Creative Studies and worked at Ruth Olson Photography, doing graphic design, photo retouching, web design and more. He later began working at Ad Vision Marketing Solutions, where he was responsible for printing and marketing design for clients such as Cannondale, Faygo, and Applebee’s. Mike is a graduate of Madonna University. Mike also has two small side businesses, Macstache.com and Scout Leathergoods, where he spends his spare time making stick-on mustaches for Apple products and rugged leather products.
