The City of University Place is proud to announce that, at the recent Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Conference, University Place City Council Member Kent Keel was elected to the position of AWC Board Member At-Large representing Western Washington. Council Member Keel is the first council member from University Place to attain this prestigious position.
Council Member Kent Keel stated, "I am honored and humbled to be elected to the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Board of Directors by representative city council members from every city and town in our state. AWC is the premier advocacy organization for cities and towns and I will work relentlessly for all Washington citizens to help ensure tax dollars and services improve our quality of life."
Founded in 1933, the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is a private, non-profit, non-partisan corporation that represents Washington’s cities and towns before the state legislature, the state executive branch and with regulatory agencies. Membership is voluntary, however, AWC consistently maintains 100 percent participation from Washington’s 281 cities and towns. A 25-member Board of Directors oversees the association’s activities.
