Just before graduation, Girl Scout Troop 40332 finished their project to build two school libraries in Malawi. The five girls collected 2,182 books which were packed in 38 boxes weighing > 1,068 pounds and raised $600 to cover shipping to Malawi! But they could not have done this alone.
The Troop would like to thank the following groups for donating books or funds: Steilacoom High School National Honor Society, SHS Book Club, Girl Scout troops in Service Unit 601, parishioners of St John Bosco Catholic Church, parishioners of St Mary’s Episcopal Church, St Mary’s School, Town of Steilacoom residents, Friends of Steilacoom Library, and the amazing students in the Tillicum Elementary Communities in Schools program. The books for Chawe School and Chitekesa School libraries will arrive this summer!
