McChord Field’s Heritage Dinner honoring all military retirees set for June 21

June 3, 2014 By The Suburban Times

For the thirty-sixth year, McChord will present the popular annual banquet honoring all military retirees, on Saturday, 21 June, 6;30 pm at the McChord Club. Sometimes presented as a “Dining Out”, this year’s “Heritage Dinner” will feature Guest Speaker Mrs. Betty Dybbro, a pilot with the World War II “WASP” (Women’s Airforce Service Pilot) group. She has some exciting stories to tell.

A military introduction, presentation of colors, and presentation of the McChord Retiree Activities Office (RAO) Volunteer of the Year will precede Mrs. Dybbro’s presentation.  Past  RAO Volunteers will be memorialized, a tradition initiated by long-time volunteer, DD Hoffman, MAJ, USAF retired.

The McChord RAO sponsors this Heritage Dinner in honor of military retirees of all services.  Retirees, active duty members, and families and friends are most welcome!  Dress is semi formal dinner dress for the ladies, and coat and tie for the men.  Retirees are requested to wear their uniform, if possible.  Uniforms from every branch of the service, and from World War II era through present day are usually seen.  Meet old friends and greet new ones; share a few memories and  “war stories”.  The camaraderie is priceless!

The menu features always excellent fare:  Filet of King Salmon or London Broil, both priced at $22.20 for Club members.  Non-members, add $2.00.l  No host Social Hour is at 6:30 PM with seating at 7 PM.  Reservations are required and must be

received by 18 June. For reservations and tickets, please call the Club, 253-982-5581, or 253-584-1371.  For more information on the RAO, its events and the dinner, call 253-982-3214, week-days 9 AM to 12 Noon.

The RAO mission is to honor and serve the military retiree; come help us accomplish this!  Our motto is “Still Serving”, and we welcome new volunteers to join us in doing this!
