Clover Park School District is receiving $149,400 in grant funding to install a new emergency response system at all district schools. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction awarded nearly $7 million to 80 school districts across the state to help them install the systems. The new systems will decrease the time it takes for police and other first responders to arrive and react to incidents at schools.
“Student safety is a top priority in our district,” said superintendent Debbie LeBeau. “We already work closely with our local first responders on different safety issues. This response system will further improve our readiness for emergencies.”
The grants were the result of Senate Bill 5197, passed by the state Legislature in 2013. The intent of the bill was to encourage school districts to develop new emergency response systems using “evolving technology.”
