Lakes High School’s Kiaya Van Scoyoc has earned the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum’s inaugural Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award for Washington state.[/caption]
The state winners were selected from states that sponsor high school state championships for girls wrestling. A national winner will be chosen in June.
“We are extremely proud of Kiaya’s accomplishments both on and off the mat,” said Scott Nordi, Lakes’ athletic director. “This award is a testament to her success in athletics and education.”
Van Scoyoc signed a letter of intent on May 7 for a women’s wrestling scholarship at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Ore.
