St. Clare Hospital to Display New Works by Student Photographers

May 8, 2014 By The Suburban Times

From Franciscan Health System

Eleven students from Lakes High School in Lakewood will have their photography showcased as part of an exhibit at St. Clare Hospital entitled “Contributing Toward Creating a Healthy Community”.  This is the second year that St. Clare Hospital has partnered with Lakes High School to display the student’s work.

The students are part of teacher Scott Waeschle’s commercial photography class. Students submitted photos based on one simple concept: simplicity.  The lesson Waeschle stressed was to get close to the subject and eliminate any distraction. The images selected exemplify the concept of getting as close as possible. Images were then submitted to St. Clare staff to choose the final photos for the exhibit.

“This exhibit reinforces and celebrates the quality work and creative efforts of these students,” Waeschle says.  “Having their works displayed at St. Clare Hospital provides a professional venue that adds authenticity to the student’s learning experience and takes their work beyond the classroom into the real world.”

“We are delighted to be able to continue to showcase the creative works of these outstanding, young members of our community,” said Kathy Bressler, President of St. Clare Hospital.  “At St. Clare we are committed to celebrating our youth and the positive impact they have within our community.”

The photos will be on display through April 2015.  In 2015 new photos will be selected for the exhibit.  The students will then receive their 17 x 22 framed photos as a keepsake. The general public is welcome to view the exhibit, located in the hallway from the main entrance to the Emergency Department, during normal hospital visiting hours which are 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
