What about public transit in our area will be the topic of discussion at the May 8 meeting of Lakewood United. Tim Renfro, Pierce Transit’s ADA Administrator and Daren Stavish Principle Planner, PC Transit will lead the discussion.
The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. The next two programs after this week are:
- May 15, 2014-When to drive and not to drive
- May 22, 2014-Lakes of Lakewood revisited – Don Russell & Kris
Last week’s program with Lakewold’s Exec. Dir. Stephanie Walsh previewed their Silver Anniversary with a Power Point on history, current activities and programs with new initiatives now underway. May 7th marks the 25th anniversary of Lakewold with an appropriate ceremony planned. A Lakewood Historical program on Lakewold is planned at Lakewold on May 20th – open to all.
The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2013, are $20 per year. Lakewood United operates with a volunteer board and our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, John Huber, if he is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.
Burs Restaurant does not charge us a room fee. Hence, please ensure that you at least order a beverage if you attend the meeting and remember to leave a gratuity.
