Lakewold’s Silver Anniversary on display at Lakewood United, May 1

April 29, 2014 By Kris Kauffman

Lakewold’s Silver Anniversary will be the subject of the Thursday, May 1 meeting of Lakewood United. Lakewold Executive Director Stephanie Walsh will outline new programs and great garden area.

The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood.  The next three programs after this week are:

  • May 8, 2014– What about public transit in our area??  Tim Renfro, Pierce Transit’s ADA Administrator and head of our Shuttle (paratransit) program (Karen – MC)
  • May 15, 2014– When to drive and not to drive              Bob Brostrom AARP            (Steve MC)
  • May 22, 2014– Lakes of Lakewood revisited      Don Russell & Kris              (Kris – MC)

Last week’s program with Rep. Tami Green on the recent past and future   was a great conversation with Tami about the many activities in the Legislature and what we may expect the fall election races to be like…maybe.

The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2013, are $20 per year. Lakewood United operates with a volunteer board and our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, John Huber, if he is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.

Burs Restaurant does not charge us a room fee. Hence, please ensure that you at least order a beverage if you attend the meeting and remember to leave a gratuity. If you wish to make suggestions for future topics or speakers, please contact any of our board members: Marie Barth, John Huber, Kris Kauffman, Evelyn Kelly, Karen Lebeter, Pamela Maddess, Teresa Nye, Steve Smith, or Herb Stumpf.

Those who are only receiving this notice as a handout at the weekly meetings and would like to get it by email, please contact Lakewood United at:            lakewoodunited@gmail.com. Alternatively, or if you are a visitor, you can note your name and email address on the Sign Up sheet at the Thursdaymorning events.           Lakewood United is now on Facebook:
