Several award winning Lakewood artists will be participating in the Sister Cities – ArtsFest Celebration this coming weekend at Pierce College’s Steilacoom Campus.
ArtsFest will open at 6 p.m. Friday, April 25 with a free, meet the artists reception and continue through 5 p.m. Sunday, April 27. Over forty Pierce County artists will be presenting their work to the public.
Among those displaying their work will be award winning Lakewood artists Pat Graham, Marjorie Mankin, Karen Petrillose and Marquita Hunt. Also, military artists Patrick Haskett and Alan Archambault, both of Lakewood, will be presenting several of their acclaimed paintings and illustrations.
- Artist and historian Alan Archambault’s color illustration pays tribute to the long and proud history of the American military in the Puget Sound area.
- Three year old Marielle Savitz shares a photo op with her artist-historian grandfather Alan Archambault at Ball’s Bluff Battlefield in Virginia.
- Acclaimed artist and historian Alan Archambault illustrates a brief history of the U.S. Army with a Washington state perspective.
- Karen Petrillose of Lakewood smiles as she shows one of her award winning paintings to friends (Tom and Fae Crabill).

Students from Clover Park School District will also have artwork on display and at 3 p.m. on Sunday the Chang Hee Suk Korean Women Drummers will be putting on a special drum performance. Food and craft vendors, local YMCA performers, dancers from Okinawa City, Japan plus a Kids Corner round out the event activities.
ArtsFest hours are 6-9 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Parking and admission is free on all three days. Come join the fun.
