DuPont Residents Receive Reduced Green Fees at The Home Course

April 23, 2014 By The Suburban Times

DUPONT – The Home Course, a picturesque golf course that has been the site of numerous championships, is offering a preferred green fee rate for the residents of DuPont, a premier golf course community in south Puget Sound. The preferred rate will be an additional 10 percent off the discount already given to Washington State Golf Association members.

“We are excited to offer DuPont residents this special rate,” said Troy Andrew, CEO of The Home Course, Washington State Golf Association, and Pacific Northwest Golf Association. “We feel extremely fortunate to be part of this great community and are excited to share the recreational benefits of golf and beauty of The Home Course with all our neighbors.”

“We are lucky to have access to a championship golf course here in our own backyard,” said Mayor Michael Grayum. “Golf is a part of our community’s significant history and a cornerstone to tourism and economic development. People travel to stay in DuPont and play at The Home Course, as well as Chamber’s Bay, the site of 2015 U.S. Open.”

DuPont is the home of golf in the Pacific Northwest. The site of The Home Course has a significant history dating back to the early 1800s when a rudimentary six-hole golf course was located around Fort Nisqually, a main trading post and supply center for early U.S. settlers and local Native Americans. The Home Course opened in 2007 and is co-owned and operated by the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) and Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA). The course will be the future headquarters of the WSGA and the PNGA, as well as be the home of the regional operations and activities for the United States Golf Association. The site is home to championship tournaments, junior golf programs, environmental stewardship and turf-grass research.

The Home Course will be the site of the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship on July 14-19. Previously, The Home Course was the companion course for the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay, hosted the 2013 NCAA Division II Men’s West/South Central Regional, as well as the prestigious Sahalee Players Championship. The Home Course is also the home for the Pacific Lutheran University golf team. More information available is at www.thehomecourse.com.
