Old school desks, farm chairs and stools have been re-imagined into works of art and will be auctioned off at the fifth annual “Chair Affair,” to be held on Friday, April 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. at NW Furniture Bank, 117 Puyallup Avenue, Tacoma.
The gala event features both a silent and live auction, and will offer live music, beer and wine, as well as gourmet fare by local restaurants including Pacific Grill Events and Catering, Harmon Brewery and Eatery, Dirty Oscar’s Annex, Snuffin’s Catering, Fircrest Golf Club, Willis Marketing, Inc., Ammar’s Mediterranean Grill, and Chateau Ste. Michelle. Generous donations and proceeds from this annual event help the NW Furniture Bank provide furnishings for an entire home to over 100 families each month.
The chairs aren’t the only things undergoing a transformation. The warehouse that normally is filled wall to wall with generous furniture donations will become a beautiful venue for the evening, and will also give attendees a sense of how the NW Furniture Bank will turn the proceeds from the evening into real help and hope for individuals and families. Since 2007, the NW Furniture Bank has served victims of domestic abuse, people suffering loss from fire and natural disasters, foster homes and families coming from transitional housing trying to rebuild their lives.
In addition to the unique chairs, chests/trunks, end tables, mirrors and lamps created by local artists to be silently auctioned off, attendees will have a chance to live bid on a one-of-a-kind glass chair created by the Museum of Glass Hot Shop artists. Other items to be auctioned off include VIP seats for sporting events, dinner and theater tickets, a skydiving package, travel packages and much more.
Tickets are $60 per person. To register, as well as get a sneak peak at the chairs and read about each artist, visit www.chairaffair.org.
