STEILACOOM – This past Saturday, March 8, 2014, Steilacoom School District Choral students from Pioneer Middle School and Steilacoom High School competed in the Washington Music Educators Regional Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Cougar Mountain Middle School.
Thirteen ensembles represented the District and all received superior ratings, which is the highest rating attainable at this competition. The ensembles included the Steilacoom High School Chamber Choir, Men’s Large Ensemble, Women’s Large Ensemble, Mixed Quartet, Men’s Quartet and the Women’s Quartet. Also receiving the highest caliber rating was the Pioneer Middle School Girl’s Ensemble (6th Grade only), Young Women’s Ensemble (7th and 8th grade), Young Men’s Ensemble (6th, 7th, and 8th grade), Mixed Ensemble (6th, 7th, and 8th grade), Girl’s Quartet (6th grade only), Young Women’s Quartet (7th and 8th grade) and the Young Men’s Quartet (6th, 7th, and 8th grade).
Thirty-two soloists from middle and high school also competed and received the following ratings in the two highest categories.
