Chamber’s Bay is closing at the end of March. Don’t panic. Chamber’s Bay Realty is closing, that is; not the golf course.
After 35 years of selling homes in the South Sound area, Realtor Carole Tinsley is looking forward to retirement.
“It’s been a great time working here in Steilacoom,” says Carole, who plans to travel—first to Paris. She also plans to get re-acquainted with her drawing and doll-making hobbies.
“Thanks to all who’ve supported the real estate business,” she added.
During the years, the Real Estate office on Lafayette—between the barber shop and the Tribal Museum—has been a police station, an ice cream shop and a toy store.
Carole, one of the original members of the re-vamped Chamber of Commerce, was honored in 2010 as its “Citizen of the Year.” During that time she also took part in many community activity events from parades to cheese cake and Chocolate Mousse-making at ER’s, back in the day. For about 20 years, the lot next to Chamber’s Bay has served as the Boy Scouting Tree lot.
Carole came to Steilacoom in 1964 from Mt. Home, Idaho, along with her three sons and daughter. She’s the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and eight great grandkids.
Come March 31, though, Chamber’s Bay is “going away,” she reminds. The business will be permanently closed. Stop by to bid her farewell when you’re downtown.
