The Steilacoom Historical School District Board of Directors voted to remove the Interim title and enter into superintendent contract negotiations with Ms. Kathi Weight at the February 12, 2014 meeting.
Ms. Kathi Weight has served as Interim Superintendent for the 2013-14 school year. Prior to her appointment to Interim Superintendent, Ms. Weight served three years as Executive Director for Student Achievement and Human Resources for the Steilacoom Historical District. Ms. Weight served as a principal in North Thurston Public Schools and has also been an elementary and middle school teacher. She possesses a Bachelor’s Degree from Washington State University, a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from City University and earned Administrative Credentials at Seattle Pacific University.
“Ms. Weight has been instrumental in uniting our entire district team. Kathi’s personality and communication style are a good fit for our communities enabling her to easily and inclusively resolve issues. It was any easy decision for the board.” stated Board Chair Sam Scott.
