From its humble beginnings as a small, 4 string instrument in the 16th century, the development of the guitar has followed a winding path through constantly changing musical tastes over the last 500 years. PLU music professor, Elizabeth C.D. Brown will illustrate this journey with performances on Renaissance, Baroque, nineteenth century, and modern guitars. Ms. Brown will intersperse her musical numbers with commentary on the physical and musical development of the guitar.
