Copies of the Agenda and staff reports are available at all Town facilities once published.
The Agenda and Council meeting minutes are posted to the Town’s official website.
Town offices will be closed on Monday, February 17th, for Presidents’ Day.
Saltar’s Point Park:
Saltar’s Point Park remains closed. If anyone notices trespassers on the beach, please contact Public Safety using the non-emergency number – 253 798-4721. Staff continues to work with BNSF officials pursuing design of a replacement structure.
Cell Tower Proposal:
AT&T is proposing placing a cell tower approximately150 feet from Union Avenue near the entry way to JBLM. The following tentative schedule for meetings has been arranged:
February 18 – Council Study Session
February 27 – Community Meeting at 6:30 PM at Town Hall
March 10 – Planning Commission Informational Meeting – 6:30 PM at Town Hall
March 18 – Town Council Public Meeting and introduction – 6:30 PM at Town Hall.
April 1 – Town Council Public Meeting and possible action – 6:30 PM at Town Hall.
|Lafayette Street Construction Community Meeting:
On Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Town Hall, Town staff will hold a community notification meeting/open house to discuss the Lafayette Street overlay project. All are invited to attend. The contractor anticipates starting work on Wednesday.
Burglaries in Town:
Detective Yabe and the entire patrol staff have been working multiple leads in the burglary series that we are experiencing. Residents are asked to notify Public Safety if they see anything suspicious. Photos of individuals and/or vehicles (including license plate numbers if possible) would be helpful. We ask all residents to follow good safety practices including closing and locking doors, not leaving valuable items in plain view in vehicles, etc. There were no reported burglaries since February 1, 2014. Detective Yabe continues to work on entry level backgrounds.
Streets and Storm:
Sequalish Street Project;
The contractor focused on storm drain piping installation (upper area) along with working on the rock and block walls between Short Street and Union Avenue (lower area).
Lafayette Street Project:
A community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday the 18th and the contractor anticipates starting on pavement patching on Wednesday the 19th.
The crew prepared for and recovered from the snow and ice event along with the wind storm. This work included snow and ice plowing/removal, street sweeping, catch basin cleaning, and fallen tree removal.
The crew worked on energizing the Joey Hollow development, lowered secondary services on Sequalish Street in concert with the contractor, potholed utilities on Frederick Street in preparation for new conduit being installed, and performed other system maintenance.
The crew repaired a hydrant on Rigney Road that was damaged during the snow event, replaced a broken compressor at the Sunnyside Pump Station, coordinated sewer capping at the old Pioneer Sewer, and responded to other weather related events.
Parks and Grounds:
The crew assisted by the Cedar Creek work crew performed maintenance work at Sunnyside Park, assisted with snow and ice preparation and response, installed a new sink at Public Works, responded to and cleaned up after the wind storm, and performed other grounds and building maintenance.Print This Post
