The next Steilacoom Parks and Trails Task Force Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 February, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Map Room at the Town Hall on Lafayette St. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting where the discussion will focus on recommendations for park enhancements. Eagle Scout projects, and work parties.
Also, here is a brief and encouraging update as of 8 Feb from Mayor Lucas regarding our recent burglaries in Steilacoom:
“Chief and I spoke this past week of the likely-hood of two separate individuals/groups using specific cars to move about being responsible for the spike in Town burglaries. I described the full court press of our police staff and the specific efforts of Detective Tom Yabe in investigating each burglary report and then building a profile for suspects. Our team also worked with other local law enforcement agencies as they were experiencing similar increases in burglaries.
Per the Chief this morning having worked with separate pieces of evidence, I am informing you that one of the prime suspects fitting our profile from the Saltar’s area burglaries has been apprehended in the last 12 hours. She also had an out of state Montana warrant and will be extradited. More to follow this week.
I have no information today on the recovery of stolen items from any home as the investigation continues while she resides in a local jail……this is a very fine example of your police departments skill and perseverance.”
I extend thanks to our law enforcement personnel and also everyone who has been calling in tips and keeping a watch on our neighborhoods.
