On Thursday, March 27, Communities in Schools of Lakewood (CISL) will host its annual Champions for Youth Breakfast at 7am at Old Country Buffet in Lakewood Towne Center.
Students and volunteers in our programs will share inspiring stories and we will feature a unique guest, Brandon Stogsdill, author of the book, “The Boy with a Gun: From Incarceration to Higher Education”. Brandon credits Pierce College for his turnaround: “Pierce was the first place that believed in me.” Brandon is currently working on a doctorate degree and has started his own mental health counseling practice.
Each year 200+ guests from businesses, the school district, service clubs, agencies, JBLM and the general public come together in support of CISL. Funds generated from the breakfast support CISL After-School, Champions Mentor and Readiness to Learn programs that provide 1,500 students with the additional support they need to stay in school and achieve in life.
While there is no charge, guests will be invited to make a donation at the end of the event. For reservations and information contact the CISL office: 253-589-7489 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
