The Clover Park Kiwanis club recently welcomed two new members. On February 4th, the club inducted Ben Keller and Sylvia Allen.
Many know Ben Keller as the former choir director at Lakes High School. Before he taught at Lakes, Ben attended school in the Clover Park School District through high school, and received his Bachelors and Masters at Pacific Lutheran University. He wasn’t done there. He also received his doctorate at the University of Arizona. Dr. Keller taught thousands of students over the years, and received many awards along the way.
Sylvia Allen has lived in Lakewood since 1984. All four of her children graduated from Lakes High School. She is a retired city Parks and Recreation Director and currently sits on the Lakewood Parks Advisory Board and Lakewood Partners for Parks. She currently works as a part-time business consultant and customer service training instructor. Sylvia has volunteered for all of Lakewood Lions Club events and projects, as her husband is an active member there.
Kiwanis is an organization that serves Lakewood’s youth through fundraising and volunteer support, and we are happy to have such an eclectic, well-rounded group of individuals that are eager to serve. Ben and Sylvia will make wonderful new additions to our club.
We would like to see you at our next meeting. We are always looking for individuals who want to serve. Lakewood’s youth and community are always in need of help. Come down to the Ram Restaurant at 10019 59th Ave SW, Lakewood any Tuesday from 12:00-1:00 PM and see what Kiwanis is all about. Lunch is provided for first-timers.
For membership details email, Paul Candler, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ll see you on Tuesday.
