Library board to discuss new download services, Legislative Day and more

February 10, 2014 By Pierce County Library System

At its February meeting, the Pierce County Library System Board of Trustees will discuss new download services, Library Legislative Day, and other issues. The board will meet from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the library’s Processing and Administrative Center, 3005 112th St. E., in Tacoma. Download the agenda.

Music, Movie, TV and Magazine Downloads

Pierce County Library customers can now download popular magazines, music albums, movies and television shows through two new services—free with a Pierce County Library card. Hoopla is an innovative new product that partners with public libraries to offer customers thousands of movies, television shows, and songs for free. Zinio is the world’s largest newsstand and was voted one of USA Today’s top apps for 2013.

Library Legislative Day

On Jan. 24, library staff participated in Washington Library Association’s annual Legislative Day. Managers traveled to Olympia to carry the library’s message to legislators. They met with nine senators and representatives and six legislative assistants, and dropped off packets and met informally with eight other congressional staff. They will follow up with elected officials once the session is over to invite them to events at their local library, and look for other ways to connect with them throughout the year.

Pierce County Library brings people together and provides children and adults with opportunities to learn and enrich their lives. Learn more at www.piercecountylibrary.org
