The Daddy-Daughter Dance is February 1 at the Community Center. Tickets are available at the Bair.
Saltar’s Point Park:
Saltar’s Point Park remains closed. If anyone notices trespassers on the beach, please contact Public Safety using the non-emergency number – 253 798-4721. Staff continues to work with BNSF officials pursuing design of a replacement structure.
Sergeant Rodriguez and the Chief attended an orientation class for the Leadership in Police Organization series that starts next month.
Burglaries in Town:
Detective Yabe and the entire patrol staff have been working multiple leads in the burglary series that we are experiencing. Residents are asked to notify Public Safety if they see anything suspicious. Photos of individuals and/or vehicles (including license plate numbers if possible) would be helpful. We ask all residents to follow good safety practices including closing and locking doors, not leaving valuable items in plain view in vehicles, etc.
Detective Yabe continues to work on entry level backgrounds. He began processing the next three entry level candidates this week. Thus far, only one has passed the polygraph.
Streets and Storm:
Sequalish Street Project;
The contractor completed water main testing on Wilkes Street, installed sewer laterals from Union Avenue to Short Street, and continued installing retaining walls.
The crew replaced a broken storm grate at the corner of Commercial and Wilkes Streets, replaced the end of a guard rail on Chambers Creek Road, checked and cleaned drains, and worked on the GIS mapping project.
The crew assisted in the preparation of the Sequalish Street Change Order #3, performed utility disconnect and reconnections, inspected the Joey Hollow electric work, and relocated electrical lines along Sequalish Street..
The crew assisted the contractor with the Wilkes Street water line testing, performed storm clean up at the reservoir sites, calibrated testing equipment, and performed other system maintenance.
Parks and Grounds:
The crew raised the “12th Man Flag” at Public Works, performed pest management at Town Hall, performed building maintenance work at DSHS, and cleaned up from last week-end’s Boy Scout project.
